Extended Reach DSL availability

Extended Reach DSL is available out of the Farmville downtown central office.

Extended Reach DSL is now available out of the Farmville downtown central office. Extended Reach DSL can push beyond the normal 18,000 foot limit of standard DSL. If you live or your business is outside of the town limits and you are not behind a remote terminal, you may be able to utilize this service. Some caveats:

  • You will need a new copper circuit (much like a telephone circuit) ordered by Kinex and installed by Embarq to use the service.
  • Conditioning of the circuits can run anywhere from $150 dollars to $300 or more. These costs are paid by the customers.
  • In some cases with longer loops (over 25,000 feet) there is no guarantee that the service can work and Kinex will not know until the circuit is conditioned. There is substantial cost risk in taking this path.
  • Setup time may take 4-6 weeks.
  • Reach DSL is limited to 2 Megabits per second download speed, and slower depending on the distance from the CO.
