Telephone Competition Is Coming!

Kinex Telecom, a subsidiary of Kinex Networking Solutions, recently signed a purchase contract from Coppercom, the leading telephone softswitch provider in the US, to deploy a telephone switch in Farmville, Virginia.

Coppercom, formerly DTI, an E911 switch manufaturer for over 20 years, began building next-generation telephone switches over 6 years ago and has now deployed over 150 switches throughout the United States and is an industry leader in dellivering telephone technology to small rural telephone companies.

"We are very excited about this announcement," remarked Kinex's president, Jim Garrett, in a recent interview.  "I selected Coppercom some years ago because of it's history and it's commitment to their customers, but have been cautious because of the huge investment needed and the failure of many technology companies in the last few years.  However, earlier this year I flew to Chicago, and met with Michael Heisley, the owner of Coppercom and that meeting convinced me to move forward with my purchase.  His personal commitmant to the company and to the product is second to none in this industry."

"This switch installation will finally give Farmville businesses the opportunity to have a competing telephone company that can provide new technologies at competitive prices.  We plan to offer many new advanced features that are currently not available to the local business owner.  With all of the centrex features we will offer, businesses will be able to create virtual phone systems within an office while using conventional phones.  This will reduce upgrade costs dramatically for most businesses, yet allow them to have all of the most modern features.  We can also group home and business lines together and create virtual offices, give customers access to change or add features via the web, activate "follow-me" features to forward calls, and many more options.  We will also be able to bring Voice Over IP service to the local area and integrate VOIP phones into our mail and messaging server."

"We expect to move our 600+ telephone lines over to our switch in December and January, then begin providing business phone service for the dozen or so businesses that are on our waiting list in February and March.  By summer of 2006 we expect to be providing both local and long distance telephone service to residents in the Farmville area.  We've been hearing for years that the community wants a competing telephone company, now that this is going to become a reality we hope the community will get behind us and support the local guys," said Garrett.
